IMMEDIATE RELEASE: February
24, 2005 New VideoPoint® Physics Fundamentals software offers accessible, hands-on learning through motion analysis of digital video LENOX, Mass. - Responding to demand for easy-to-use, all-inclusive physics teaching software, Lenox Softworks will be launching a new VideoPoint® product, as well as an extensive on-line resource library and one product upgrade for April 1, 2005. These products supplement the award-winning VideoPoint software, the premier physics-teaching tool that was first introduced in 1995 and relies on video-based motion analysis to teach and explore physics concepts. New for 2005 is VideoPoint Physics Fundamentals, ideal for high school or introductory college level physics teachers and students who are faced with time constraints and require a handier version of the traditional VideoPoint. This software is integrated with VideoPoint Capture to allow teachers to customize the program to fit their curriculum by creating their own movies. The software sports a simple interface and has been built both for Mac OS X and Windows XP. It comes with extensive user support and includes sample analysis, related movies and activity guides for the following topics: Kinematics
Dynamics
VideoPoint Physics Fundamentals can be integrated into the physics classroom in many different ways. Lecture demonstrations can be given with VideoPoint to show relationships of functions to real data; hands-on classroom activities let the students explore the movies on their own. VideoPoint homework assignments and projects can produce interesting and innovative analyses of situations. Also new for 2005 is the VideoPoint Resource Library, which offers free resources for VideoPoint users, including movies, sample analysis and activity guides. Entirely online, the library is easy to search and will accept input of certain resources from users. VideoPoint Capture 2.1 is an upgrade of the 2.0 version, which allows the user to capture QuickTime video using most digital cameras. The user may then edit the video, cut off frames, reduce or increase the number of frames, annotate the video, save it as a QuickTime movie and open it in VideoPoint. The new Capture 2.1 offers time lapse, better user interface and integration with VideoPoint Physics Fundamentals as improved features over the 2.0 version of the software. The suite of products for one user costs $180; for five users, $375; for 10 users, $675; and for 30 users, $1375.
